New measures against coronavirus include tax dealings via mail, phone
The Independent Authority for Public Revenue (IAPR) has announced that transactions with the tax office, customs and the General Chemical State Laboratory of Greece will be carried out strictly via mail or by phone as of Monday.

It may indeed sound like an exaggeration to say so, but the campaign launched by the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (IAPR), urging foreign visitors to demand receipts for goods and services, is just as important as the intensive checks by tax inspectors when it comes to cracking down on tax evasion.

Large-scale retroactive crackdown on tax evasion
Greece's Independent Authority for Public Revenue (IAPR) plans to tighten its grip on tax evaders, with an increase in checks, even retrospectively, dating back to 2014.
In particular, and for the first time, it will cross-check supplier and customer declarations with the corresponding income and value-added tax declarations from 2014 onward.

Tax authorities enlist Airbnb’s help

Checking of Greeks’ cash abroad begins
The tax administration now has data concerning Greeks with deposits, dividends, shares and real estate abroad over the last couple of years, in the context of the automatic exchange of information.
The inspectors of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue have been processing the data to establish whether the assets abroad have been declared.
