Fire safety study completed for Samos sanctuary
The Ministry of Culture has completed a fire safety study for the archaeological site of Heraion on the eastern Aegean island of Samos, which has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1992.

Police investigate patricide on Samos
Police on Samos are investing the murder of a 70-year-old man, who was killed in his home in Vathy the early hours of Holy Saturday.
The man's 49-year-old daughter, who has a history of psychological problems, has confessed to the act.
She reportedly called the police after striking and killing her father with a metal object.

Greece finds 10 more migrants after 25 rescued off Greek island
Greek rescuers found 10 migrants on a rocky area of the island of Samos overnight after recovering the body of one migrant and rescuing 25 whose boat had sunk, the coastguard said on Monday.
A search and rescue operation was under way, while authorities have launched an investigation into the case, the coastguard said in a statement.
One migrant dies, 25 rescued off Greek island
Greece has recovered the body of one migrant and rescued 25, while searching for at least four more believed missing after their boat sank off the island of Samos, the coastguard said on Sunday.
The rescued migrants were taken to a port facility on Samos, while a search and rescue operation for the missing was ongoing, a coastguard official said on condition of anonymity.

Samos jolted by 4.3 earthquake
The eastern Aegean island of Samos was jolted by a 4.3 magnitude earthquake on Friday morning, according to the Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory of Athens. No injuries or damage were reported.
The epicentre of the quake, which occurred at 11 a.m., was in the sea area 8 kilometers east of the port town of Karlovasi.

Three minors die, 19 migrants rescued at Chios island
Greece has recovered the bodies of three minors and rescued 19 migrants after their dinghy hit rocks at the island of Chios in the Aegean Sea near Turkey, the coastguard said on Wednesday.
Greece has been a favored gateway to the European Union for migrants and refugees from the Middle East, Africa and Asia since 2015 when nearly 1 million people landed on its islands.
Greece rescues 14 migrants off Chios island, searches for more
Greece rescued 14 migrants including eight children from a rocky shore on the island of Chios, the coastguard said on Wednesday, adding that search-and-rescue operations were ongoing.
The migrants were believed to have reached the island in the Aegean Sea near Turkey on a dinghy, a coastguard official said. It was not immediately clear how many had been on board.
Coast Guard intercepts speedboat carrying migrants near Chios
A coast guard patrol intercepted a speedboat carrying 22 migrants heading towards Greek shores in the southeastern maritime area of Chios island late Saturday.
The speedboat, carrying a total of 24 individuals (11 men, 7 women, 6 minors), was immobilized. Among those aboard, two individuals suspected of trafficking were arrested.
