Islam in Bulgaria

A bus with Bulgarian registration veered off its path, resulting in 11 injuries, two of which are reported to be severe. The incident occurred near the town of Kavaklı in the province of Kirklareli, where the bus lost control, colliding with a tree before overturning.

In the period from January to November 2023, Bulgaria saw a significant surge in migrant detentions, with a total of 18,008 third-country citizens apprehended by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This marked a stark 15.4% increase from the previous year's numbers, signifying a growing challenge for the nation.

More than 100 thousand attempts to illegally cross the Bulgarian-Turkish border have been prevented by the border authorities since the beginning of the year alone. This was announced by the Bulgarian Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov during a parliamentary hearing:

"The Bulgarian services had operational information about the ambulance captured with 23 migrants in the Plovdiv village of Trud, there is still no information on what charges will be brought against the migrant traffickers". This was stated in Belitsa by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Ivan Demerdzhiev, who participated in a festive service in the renovated church "St. George".

The Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprise Promotion Agency (BSMEPA) and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Organization in Turkey (KOSGEB) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

Dozens of Bulgarian trucks were not allowed to enter Turkish territory when they tried to cross the Bulgarian-Turkish border checkpoint near Svilengrad. The trucks were brought back to Bulgarian territory with the motive that they should be quarantined for 14 days.

First video footage of the construction activities of the extension of the gas transmission network along the Balkan Stream line in the section from the Bulgarian-Turkish border to the Bulgarian-Serbian border. The shots are from the open construction site of the Knezha, Oryahovo and Iskar regions and were posted on Prime Minister Boyko Borissov's personal Facebook profile.

In his address President Radev outlines the ethnic tolerance that lies in the core of Bulgarian culture which demonstrates mutual understanding and respect among people of different religions, reports BNT.

This week, the Executive Agency for Promotion of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises organized two forums, bringing together representatives of the Bulgarian as well as the business in Turkey and Belarus.

The events passed under great interest, with more than 500 participants registered on the Bulgarian - Turkish Business Forum.

Young Bulgarian professionals and students from across the world are working on a new vision of their country. Bulgarian society has experienced great socio-economic hardship during the 90s, known as the transition period. The young generation finally want to end the transition.
