Israeli invasion of the Gaza Strip

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Friday the conclusion of their operations in southern Gaza, which lasted over three months. According to a statement on their Telegram channel, cited by Reuters, the IDF reported the elimination of more than 250 "terrorists" and the destruction of six tunnels utilized by Hamas.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry expressed strong condemnation on Tuesday regarding an Israeli assault on journalists from the Turkish public broadcaster TRT, characterizing it as "an effort by bloodstained Israel to conceal the truth."

A Hamas official on Friday accused Israel's prime minister of refusing to agree to a final truce accord for Gaza, where the presence of Israeli troops on the Egyptian border remained a major sticking point.

An Israeli team was in Cairo "negotiating to advance a hostage (release) agreement", Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's spokesman Omer Dostri told AFP late on Thursday.

Sources from the Israeli negotiating team accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of attempting to "blow up" the talks and obstruct reaching a hostage swap deal with Hamas, the Israeli public broadcaster KAN said Tuesday.

Gaza's civil defense agency said an Israeli air strike in the early hours of Saturday killed 15 people from a Palestinian family, including nine children and three women.

The strike hit the home of the Ajlah family in Al-Zawaida neighbourhood of central Gaza, civil defense spokesman Mahmud Bassal told AFP. The Israeli military did not offer an immediate comment.

With Gaza largely in ruins after more than 10 months of war, the Hamas-run territory's health ministry has struggled to count the death toll, which on Thursday surpassed 40,000.

Israel has repeatedly questioned the credibility of the daily figures put out by the ministry and U.S. President Joe Biden did so too in the early stages of the war.

A rocket fired from the war-torn Gaza Strip fell in the sea off Israel's Tel Aviv on Tuesday, Israel's army said, as Hamas militants announced their first attack on the city in months.

France, Germany, and the United Kingdom stated today that “there can be no further delay” in conducting negotiations for a ceasefire in Gaza, warning “Iran and its allies” against any “new escalation” of the conflict.

At least 93 people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a school and mosque in Gaza that was sheltering displaced Palestinians, according to local officials cited by CNN. The Gaza Civil Defense reported that the strike occurred during dawn prayers at the Al-Tabi'in compound in Gaza City's Al-Daraj neighborhood.

The Israeli army has killed 40 more Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, taking the overall death toll to 39,790 since last Oct. 7, the Health Ministry in the enclave said on Saturday.

A ministry statement added that some 91,702 other people have been injured in the assault.
