Turkey builds nearly 9,000 mosques in 10 years
Nearly 9,000 mosques have been built over the last decade in Turkey, according to statistics released by Turkey's Religious Affairs Directorate (Diyanet). A total of 8,985 mosques were built between 2005 and 2015 in Turkey, while the Central Anatolian province of Konya contained the highest number of mosques, Doğan News Agency reported on Sept. 16.

Rocket projectile fired from Syria hits border province of Kilis
A rocket projectile fired from an Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL)-controlled region in Syria hit an olive orchard in the border province of Kilis early on Sept. 9, Doğan News Agency has reported.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage in the attack.
Under ISIL fire, Kilis locals demand more protection
Locals in the southeastern border province of Kilis have appealed to the Turkish state in a newspaper advert calling for additional measures to ensure their security amid persistent rocket fire from Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL)-held territories in northern Syria.
Two rockets fired from Syria hit Turkey's Kilis
Two rockets fired from Syrian territory hit the southeastern border province of Kilis on May 6.
The rockets hit a central neighborhood at around 12:30 p.m. One of the rockets hit the roof of a house while the other hit the garden of a shop.
No casualties were reported in the incident while some buildings were damaged.
Police took security measures at the scene.

Four Katyusha rockets hit central Kilis at around 5:15 p.m. and injuries were reported.

One person was killed and two others were wounded when two Katyusha rockets fired from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) controlled territory in Syria hit the souteastern border town of Kilis on May 2.
One of the rockets hit Kaz?m Karabekir neighborhood around 7.10 p.m., causing a fire to erupt in a house close to the scene. The fire was put out by the fire department.
