Change of guard in armed forces

Dendias meets with visiting US Senators
Greek Defence Minister Nikos Dendias met with visiting US Senators Jerry Moran and John Hoeven on Friday.
Posting on X, Dendias noted that they "exchanged views on the situation in Israel after Hamas' terrorist attack, and recent developments in Ukraine and Eastern Mediterranean."

Military officer opens fire at 2nd Parachute Brigade near Athens
A military officer opened fire with blank rounds and threw flash-bang grenades at the 2nd Parachute Brigade in Aspropyrgos, near Athens, on Friday, according to reports.
According to some accounts, the officer is alleged to have taken a fellow officer hostage during the incident. The Military Police intervened and subsequently arrested the officer.
Deputy defense minister and army chief in Cyprus to mark invasion anniversary
Deputy Defense Minister Nikos Hardalias and Chief of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff General Konstantinos Floros travelled to Cyprus on Thursday to attend the memorial services marking 49 years since the invasion of the island by Turkish Forces in 1974.
Greek army chief participates in military airdrop exercises
The Chief of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff General Konstantinos Floros participated in airborne exercises on Monday. The general parachuted from a Chinook CH-47D before landing at sea near the town of Nea Peramos according to a release by the Greek military.

The Hellenic Armed Forces (HAF) participated on Wednesday in a military exercise organized by the French military, called "Anaximandre-23," in the Nicosia FIR. French air and naval units also took part in the exercise.

Orion 23 allied drill wraps up
Greece participated in the French multinational drill Orion 2023 with the Adrias frigate from February 22 to March 7, within the context of the military cooperation between the two countries, enshrined in the agreement signed between the Greek Chief of the General Staff of the Hellenic Armed Forces Konstantinos Floros and French Chief of Defense Thierry Burkhard.

Term of incumbent chief of Greece’s armed forces, Gen. Floros, extended for another year
Members of Greece's Government Council for Foreign Affairs and Defense (KYSEA), in a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, on Monday announced a decision to extend the term of the chief of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff (HNDS), Gen. Konstantinos Floros, for another year.
KYSEA extends tenure of Armed Forces chief
Greece's Council for Foreign Affairs and Defense (KYSEA) has extended the tenure of General Konstantinos Floros as chief of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff (GEETHA), it was announced Monday.
Floros, who first assumed office in January 2020, will serve for another year.
