Minister tells MPs about "extremely favorable Chinese loan"
BELGRADE -- China Exim Bank's USD 608.3 million, 20-year loan with a grace period of seven years is "extremely favorable," Energy Minister Aleksandar Antic has said.

BELGRADE - Serbian Minister of Energy and Mining Aleksandar Antic said Thursday that the China Exim Bank's USD 608.3 million, 20-year loan with a grace period of seven years, for the construction of a new unit at Serbia's Kostolac B coal-fired power plant, was extremely favorable and would ensure the stability of the country's energy system.
Parliament holds special meeting on Thursday
BELGRADE - Serbian Parliament Speaker Maja Gojkovic has called the first special meeting this year for January 15, at a request form the government, Tanjug has learned at the parliament.
The agenda will include amendments to the law on companies and amendments to the law on the Development Fund.

Chinese partners interested in further investments
BELGRADE - Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic and officials of the China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC), which is in charge of the overhaul of Kostolac thermal power plant, said Thursday that the works in the first phase are going as planned, and voiced expectation that the project will be successfully completed and the production resumed in a very short time.

BELGRADE -- The government has adopted an agreement on a second phase in upgrading Thermal Power Plants and Mines Kostolac (TE-KO Kostolac), in eastern Serbia.

Production resumes at Drmno coal mine
KOSTOLAC - Production has resumed at the Drmno open-pit coal mine in Kostolac, eastern Serbia, with the daily output already at 15,000 tons, Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Aleksandar Antic said on Saturday, announcing that rainwater should be pumped out of the mine within 30 days.

Heavy rain halts coal production in Drmno
KOSTOLAC - Heavy rain, which fell incessantly for over 15 hours in the area of Kostolac, eastern Serbia, sank the Drmno open-pit coal mine Thursday and reduced electrical energy production at the Kostolac Thermal Power Plant (TE Kostolac), but great effort is being made to get the plant back to operating at full capacity.
