Campaigning for Euro elections resumes after Easter break

After the Easter respite, party leaders resume their pre-election campaigns on Tuesday, as we enter the last stretch before the European Parliament elections.

On the diplomatic front, the government in Athens is preparing for Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis' planned visit to Ankara next Monday, where he will be meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Rift with Church largely bridged

The statements on Friday by Archbishop Ieronymos and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, during a joint visit to facilities of the Archdiocese of Athens in Dilesi, Viotia, Central Greece, demonstrated in the most emphatic way that the rift in relations between the Church and the government over the legislation on same-sex marriage has been largely bridged. 

PM Mitsotakis affirms amicable relations with Orthodox Church

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Friday affirmed the amicable ties between his conservative government and the Orthodox Church.

"Our collaboration within the framework laid out by the institutions has been and remains exceptionally close," Mitsotakis said during a meeting with Archbishop Ieronymos in the town of Dilesi, in Greece's central Viotia region.
