The government is continuing to impose the state of emergency in a bid to crackdown on dissent in Turkey, main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu said on April 13. 

Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli defended the extension of the state of emergency rule, stating that it is an imminent necessity for Turkey's survival against the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ).

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on April 9 said Turkey would "help Kyrgyzstan in the fight against FETÖ," referring to what the authorities call the Fetullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), widely believed to be behind the July 2016 coup attempt.

Turkey's National Intelligence Organization (MİT) has brought three members of the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) from the Central African country Gabon to the Turkish capital Ankara, state-run Anadolu Agency reported on April 10.

A total of 22 former Turkish military officers were given jail terms on April 3 on charges of being members of the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), widely believed to have been behind the July 2016 failed coup in Turkey.

Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has accused the government of continuing Turkey's emergency rule in order to conceal its former support to the network of U.S.-based Fethullah Gülen, accusing President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of being the "highest ranking politician with links to [the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization] FETÖ."
