Mass murder

A prosecutor has demanded 40 times aggravated life sentences and at least 1,555 years in jail for an attacker who killed 39 people in a nightclub in Istanbul on Jan. 1, Doğan News Agency has reported.

Uzbek-origin Abdulkadir Masharipov carried out a gun attack, killing 39 people and wounding 65 others at the Reina nightclub. 

Turkish police have identified that the large amount of money found in the house of the attacker of an Istanbul nightclub was from $1.9 million robbed from an Uzbek national by gunmen. 

After accusing the government of a "pogrom" this week, the Panhellenic Federation of Public Hospital Workers (POEDIN) filed a lawsuit on Friday at the Supreme Court against hospital directors across the country for the ousting of some 700 department heads.

Four women and one man were fatally shot on Friday night in the US, when a gunman armed with a rifle started shooting at a shopping mall about 65 miles north of Seattle, Washington State. The shooting occurred at Cascade Mall in Burlington, Washington, before 7 p.m. local time.

Former Bosnian Army soldier Jasmin Coloman was sentenced to three years in prison for his involvement in the murder of detained Croat civilians in the Vitez area in 1993.

Three men attacked a rural police station in southern Russia on April 11 including at least one suicide bomber, the Interior Ministry said, saying police in the affected area had been put on a high state of alert.
