Bulgarian MPs will discuss Wednesday a draft decision submitted by nationalist party Ataka envisaging the termination of all gold mining concessions in the country.
Canadians Lead New Gold Rush in Romania
The Canadian gold mining company Eldorado Gold Corporation is ready to start a new gold mining project at Certej, in southern Transylvania, after completing a feasibility study.
The company intends to invest some $652 million US in extracting an estimated 44 million tonnes of ore from mine, worth some $3.2 billion US.

EU Commission Calls on Bulgaria to Upgrade Mining Waste Legislation
The European Commission called on Bulgaria to bring its legislation in compliance with the EU rules on waste management from extractive industries by issuing a reasoned opinion on Wednesday.
This largely concerns the Mining Waste Directive, which aims to prevent or reduce harmful effects on human health and the environment resulting from waste management from extractive industries.
High court throws out decision blocking Skouries gold mine’s enrichment plant
The Council of State, Greece’s highest administrative court, on Monday threw out a recent decision by a regional entity to block an enrichment plant at the controversial Skouries gold mine in northern Greece.
The high court said the decision was illegal and that construction of the unit by Hellas Gold, the subsidiary of Canadian multinational Eldorado Gold, can proceed.
Mine chiefs on trial over Soma mining tragedy
Eight former managers from the mine where Turkey's worst industrial disaster occurred in May 2014 appeared in court April 15 on murder charges, with prosecutors demanding they spend the rest of their lives in jail.

Lawsuit opened against officials responsible for killing 18 miners in Ermenek
A lawsuit has been opened into accused of responsibility in a mine accident in the Central Anatolian province of Karaman's Ermenek district that left 18 workers dead last year.
The Ermenek Public Prosecutor's Office announced that a civil lawsuit had been launched at a high criminal court on charges of causing the death of more than one person through conscious negligence.

Soma mining accident report proposals disregarded: CHP deputy
None of the proposals suggested in the report on the Soma mining disaster of May 2014 have been taken into consideration in any laws passed since the tragedy, main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) Manisa deputy Özgür Özel has said.
