By the end of January, a flu wave is expected to occur. That's what Prof. Iva Hristova, Deputy Director of the Center for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases said before BNT.

She pointed out that the flu virus is late this year and the initial  expectations of specialists are for a much lower flu wave.

The European Medicines Agency said Tuesday that AstraZeneca and Oxford University have submitted an application for their Covid-19 vaccine to be licensed across the European Union.

Ljubljana – Slovenia is to receive 26,000 doses of the newly approved Moderna coronavirus vaccine by the end of February, the Health Ministry said on Saturday. The European Commission and Moderna agreed on the supply of 80 million doses with the possibility of increase by another 80 million doses. Slovenia has the right to 369,767 doses from each supply.

Europe's medicines regulator expects drugmaker AstraZeneca to apply for approval of its Covid-19 vaccine next week, it said on Friday.

The Astrazeneca shot, which was developed with Oxford University, was given a green light by authorities in Britain on Dec. 30.

The Ministry of Health published an estimate of the expected amounts of COVID-19 vaccines month by month.

It is clear from the schedule that by July this year our country has to receive a total of 1,000,000 doses of the Pfizer/ BioNTech vaccine and 500,000 doses of Moderna.

The EU cleared a second coronavirus vaccine for use on Jan. 6 bringing relief to European countries struggling with spiraling infections, as the world clocked up a record number of deaths in a single day.

Another 25,000 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine from BioNTech and Pfizer arrived in Sofia today, after which they will be distributed  in five regions of the country and distributed by the regional health inspectorates, announced the Minister of Health quoted by BNR.
