Noise music

The Istanbul Municipality has taken a series of precautions in an attempt to control and prevent noise pollution throughout the city, with transport routes being the first priority.

The municipality prepared various "Strategic Noise Maps" in the city focusing on highways, airports, railway systems and industrial facilities in Istanbul, authorities said in a statement. 

Akbank Sanat will open its new season with an exhibition titled "Black Noise," curated by Ekmel Ertan and
Işın Önol. 

Designed as a contemporary art project, "Black Noise" will be open to the public from Sept. 9. 

Ney player Harris Lambrakis and his band will be creating the sound for a silent screening of Alfred Hitchcock's iconic thriller "Psycho" at the Television Control Center venue on Friday, April 21. With improvised avant-garde noise, post-rock and ambient elements, the four musicians will attempt to capture the horror of the 1960 classic.

For the seventh year in a row, the Borderline Festival at the Onassis Cultural Center will be pushing the limits of sound, focusing this year on musical experimentation and electronic sound. The event features guest artists from around the world, who will lead the audience through the sometimes fuzzy line separating silence from noise, composition from improvisation and meditation from dance.
