BELGRADE - The Serbian government adopted on Thursday the amendments to the Law on Real Estate Sale and the amendments to the Law on Notaries Public.

BELGRADE - Justice Minister Nikola Selakovic has rejected the proposal by the Bar Association of Serbia (AKS) for the EU Delegation to Serbia to mediate the dispute between lawyers, who are on strike, and the Ministry of Justice, adding that the Ministry's offer for fulfillment of the lawyers' requests is still on the table.

BELGRADE - Justice Minister Nikola Selakovic called on attorneys on Wednesday to go back to work as there are no professional reasons any more for them to go on with the strike which they started on September 10.

Lawyers reject ministry's offer, strike continues

BELGRADE -- The Bar Association of Serbia (AKS) rejected on Monday a proposal of the Justice Ministry meant to resolve a dispute and end the strike of lawyers.

The ministry's offer concerned amendments to the Law on Notaries Public and regulation of the issue of arbitrary taxation.

BELGRADE -Justice Minister Nikola Selakovic said on Monday, in response to attorneys' decision to go on with the strike, that the ministry was ready for an agreement, but that attorneys' real intent is the abolition of the notary public system.

BELGRADE - The Administrative Board of the Bar Association of Serbia (AKS) rejected on Monday the proposition of the Justice Ministry concerning the amendments to the Law on Notaries Public and regulation of the issue of arbitrary taxation, and decided to continue the strike.

The Plovdiv District Prosecutor's Office has pressed charges against the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of the Brezovo Municipality, the Municipal Secretary, and a banking official in a case concerning numerous flawed attestations by a notary.

The four were arrested in a special operation of the State Agency for National Security (DANS) on Thursday.

BELGRADE - Members of the bar chambers of Belgrade and Serbia announced during the protest in front of the Palace of Justice on Thursday that they would continue with the strike until their requests are met, one of which covers the resignation of Justice Minister Nikola Selakovic.

BELGRADE - Serbian Justice Minister Nikola Selakovic called on lawyers in Serbia not to suspend their work and to continue talks on lump sum taxation with the Ministries of Justice and Finance in the week to come.

BELGRADE - The Serbian parliament adopted on Sunday three laws in the justice sector, which allow public notaries to begin their work as of September 1.

The adopted laws comprise the Law on signature, script and correspondence verification, the Law on real estate sale and the bill of amendments to the Law on court taxes. The three adopted laws will enter into force on Monday.
