Nuclear proliferation

The U.N. atomic agency is sending an initial batch of equipment to about 40 countries with which they will be able to perform a standard test for the coronavirus involving a technique derived from nuclear science, it said on April 1.

Romania is fully committed in implementing the Memorandum of Understanding with the U.S. Concerning Strategic Civil Nuclear Cooperation (NCMOU), signed in September 2019, Acting Foreign Affairs Minister Bogdan Aurescu said at the meeting with United States Secretary of Energy Dan Brouillette.

Iran defended on Nov. 9 its decision to block an U.N. inspector from a nuclear site last week.

Romania supports the candidacy of ambassador Cornel Feruta for the position of director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in the upcoming elections that will take place during the meeting of the IAEA General Conference this September.
