The 14th Bodrum International Gümüşlük Classical Music Festival is set to be held between July 24 and Sept. 4. Organized by the Bodrum Classical Music Association, the festival will be in three different concepts this year. 

Mert Hakan Şeker, a 10-year-old piano prodigy taking lessons in the northwestern Turkish province of Bursa, winning in his category in the 6th International Music Competition in the Swedish capital Stockholm last week. 

Turkish scientist Assoc. Prof. Huseyin Onay from Ege University's Faculty of Medicine, achieved to decrease the time of DNA profiling test to 34 minutes with a kit he developed, which is normally done in 6 hours. 

The Presidential Symphony Orchestra (CSO), one of the standard bearers of Turkish music, will celebrate its 190th anniversary with a special concert.

The 12th Gümü?lük Classical Music Festival continues in the popular western town of Gümü?lük. Organized in the Koyunbaba Antique Stone Quarry, the festival hosted the U.S. Kronos Quartet band on July 14. 

Turkey?s May 19 Youth and Sports Day was been marked by a huge crowds in the capital Ankara, as a concert took place at the ?An?tkabir? mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk for the first time in 17 years, in coordination with the mausoleum?s military command.

An?tkabir was open until midnight on May 19 for the concert, attracting large crowds.

?zmir has launched a bid to boost its cultural life with a new music festival organized under the name of a famous pianist, the late Ahmet Adnan Saygun. Organized by the ?zmir Metropolitan Municipality, the Saygun Music Festival, which kicked off Feb. 2, will continue until Feb. 9 at the Ahmet Adnan Saygun Arts Center. 

The 42nd Istanbul Music Festival, organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) under the sponsorship of Borusan Holding, will meet music lovers between May 31 and June 27. This year’s festival will be held with the theme “The Song of Nature.”
