In a proud moment, two Turkish students studying in Sweden have received their diplomas from Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf.

Turkish basketball player Adem Bona announced on Nov. 1 that he will be joining NCAA's UCLA Bruins instead of the Kentucky Wildcats.

In an interview with NBA insider Shams Charania, Bona, the 5-star prospect and a player among the top 25-30 players in the country as determined by scouts and analysts, said he will join the UCLA squad next year.

An Istanbul court on Dec. 19 acquitted Pınar Selek once again, in a case in which she was accused of being involved in the bombing of Istanbul's Spice Bazaar in 1998.

The feminist scholar, who lives in Strasbourg and is known for her work on Kurdish people, was sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment last January, despite being acquitted of the same charge three times in the past.

Turkish prosecutors have once again demanded life imprisonment for Turkish sociologist Pınar Selek for allegedly being involved in the bombing of Istanbul's Spice Bazaar in 1998, in a Kafkaesque judicial procedure that has been overturned four times so far.
