42% of Cancer Cases in the United States are due to Unhealthy Lifestyles
Nearly every fourth of every ten cases of cancer in the United States (42%) are due to poor lifestyle choices, including smoking, poor nutrition and other avoidable factors. This shows a new study by American scientists, which calculates the contribution of several so-called variable risk factors for the onset of cancer, reports actualno.

Kids to illustrate smoking dangers on World No Tobacco Day
The Hellenic Society of Cardiology will be marking World No Tobacco Day Wednesday by launching a competition coordinated by the Education Ministry whereby students from across Greece will submit drawings to do with smoking and its consequences.

Cigarette sales to be banned in Turkish universities
New smoking regulations are on the way in Turkey, with Health Minister Mehmet Müezzino?lu saying the ministry plans to prohibit all cigarette sales on university campuses and further reducing the number of outdoor public spaces that smokers can use.
"We are banning the sale of cigarettes on university campuses," Müezzino?lu told the state-run Anadolu Agency on April 19.
Environment behind nearly quarter of global deaths: WHO
One in four deaths worldwide are due to environmental factors like air, water and soil pollution, as well as unsafe roads and workplace stress, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on March 15.
An estimated 12.6 million people died in 2012 as a result of living and working in unhealthy environments, 23 percent of all deaths reported globally, according to the new study.

One-third of Serbian adults are smokers
BELGRADE - One-third of Serbian adults are smokers, including as much as 13 percent of the young, while 63.4 percent of children are still exposed to environmental tobacco smoke in their homes, participants of the conference 'Twinning project: Improving tobacco control in the Republic of Serbia' said on Tuesday.
