A court in Turkey's capital on Sept. 20 ordered the re-arrest of the former co-chairs of the opposition Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), according to judicial sources.

A Turkish regional appeals court on May 23 approved a prison sentence of 16 years and eight months handed down by a local court to Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) deputy İdris Baluken.

The Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) has proposed a “democratic decentralization” model in its election manifesto for Turkey’s upcoming July 24 snap elections, saying this model does not contradict with the country’s unitary state structure and democratic parliamentary system.

The former Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) deputy Ayla Akat Ata, who once represented the southeastern province of Batman, was arrested over “terrorist propaganda charges on Feb. 20. 

The jailed former co-chair of Turkey’s Kurdish-issue focused Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), Selahattin Demirtaş, has said the case against him should be dropped, citing political motivation. 

Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Istanbul lawmaker Pervin Buldan and HDP deputy co-chair Sezai Temelli have been nominated as prospective co-chairs in the party’s upcoming congress, incumbent HDP co-chair Serpil Kemalbay said during a press conference in Ankara on Feb. 8.

Pervin Buldan, the deputy parliament speaker and Iğdır lawmaker from the Kurdish-issue focused Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), has emerged as a likely candidate to replace jailed HDP co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş in the party’s upcoming congress scheduled for Feb. 11.

A court in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır issued an arrest warrant on May 30 for Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Şanlıurfa deputy and spokesperson Osman Baydemir on charges of "insulting public servants on account of their position," according to Doğan News Agency.

The Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) has stressed that it the right to vote "no" in the upcoming referendum, which will decide whether Turkey's current parliamentary system should be shifted to an executive presidency.

The arrested co-chair of the opposition Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) has said the prosecutors who filed complaints against him have been arrested for being members of the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), widely believed to have been orchestrated the July 2016 failed coup attempt.
