World Football Elite Expected to Gather in Sofia in June
The world football elite is expected to gather in Sofia on June 12 for the regular congress of FIFPro, the worldwide representative organisation for all professional football players.
Bulgarian football legend Hristo Stoichkov had been invited to attend the congress as VIP guest and confirmed his participation at the grand opening ceremony, which will be held at the Hilton hotel.
CSKA Sofia Has New Owner after Aleksandar Tomov Withdraws
Bulgarian football club CSKA has a new majority owner after Aleksandar Tomov announced his withdrawal on Sunday.
Negotiations were concluded on Monday and all documents have been signed, but the name of the new owner has not been revealed yet, daily Dnevnik reports.
Tomov withdrew as president of the supervisory council and from all management positions he held within CSKA.
Stoichkov Donates Ballon d'Or, Golden Shoe Replicas to CSKA Sofia Museum
Bulgarian football legend Hristo Stoichkov fulfilled his promise and donated the museum of CSKA Sofia with replicas of his two most precious individual awards - Ballon d'Or and the Golden Shoe.
Stoichkov was awarded the European Golden Shoe for the 1989-1990 season, when he scored 38 goals with his then team CSKA Sofia.
Bulgaria's CSKA, Levski Have Last Chance to Repay Debts, Secure Licences
Bulgaria's two most popular football clubs - CSKA and Levski have to repay their debts on Tuesday in order to be granted licences to secure their participation in the European tournaments and the domestic A Group.
The deadline for the two clubs to fulfill their obligations, amounting to BGN 800 000 for CSKA and BGN 805 000 for Levski, expires on Tuesday, daily Dnevnik reports.
Young Talent Ivaylo Chochev Set to Join Berbatov in Monaco
The 21-year-old Bulgarian midfielder Ivaylo Chochev is close to a transfer to French league club Monaco, the player’s agent confirmed.
“There are still some small matters to be agreed. We can expect more details later today (Monday) or tomorrow. In all cases, the negotiations have gone well”, Chochev’s agent Petyo Kostadinov told News7.
National Coach Lyuboslav Penev Takes Charge of Botev Plovdiv
Bulgaria's national football team coach Lyuboslav Penev will also lead top league club Botev Plovdiv from next season.
On Friday, the Bulgarian Football Union announced that it will allow Penev to combine the two jobs. The BFU President Borislav Mihaylov discussed the matter with the Executive Committee of the union and they agreed to give Penev the green light.

Legendary Martin Petrov to Retire in Summer
Former Bulgarian national team player Martin Petrov revealed his plans to retire from professional football in the summer.
The 35-year-old left winger returned to Bulgaria in the fall to play for CSKA Sofia after an illustrious career in Switzerland, Germany, England, and Spain.

Another Derby Win for CSKA Over Levski
CSKA Sofia defeated their biggest rivals Levski 1:0 in the first round of the Bulgarian league playoffs.
The match was quite an even encounter and was heading for a goalless draw, when Plamen Krachunov headed a winning goal from a corner kick in the 93rd minute.
This was the second consecutive win for CSKA over Levski in the span of a week.
