Russia struck the Ukrainian Black Sea city of Odesa again on Sunday, local officials said, keeping up a barrage of attacks that has damaged critical port infrastructure in southern Ukraine in the past week. At least one person was killed and 22 others wounded in the attack in the early hours.

"My whole life was in this house. Now I have nothing," said Tetiana Pivneva, after returning to her flooded home in the Ukraine city of Kherson following the catastrophic destruction of a dam.

The June 6 breach of the Russia-controlled Kakhovka dam inundated huge swathes of the Kherson region, forcing thousands to flee and sparking fears of an environmental disaster.

Russian forces launched a major drone assault on Kiev overnight as well as attacking other regions, Ukrainian officials said early Tuesday, but there were no immediate reports of casualties.

"New massive air attack on the capital," wrote the Kiev City Military Administration, adding that it was the first attack on the city in 18 days to use Iranian-made Shahed explosive drones.

Bulgaria and 15 other European countries have offered help to Ukraine after the destruction at the Nova Kakhovka dam.

Rubble and broken glass littered the empty streets, and traces of shelling were visible in the city's central square. Not far from there, a police station was reduced to black rubble after being hit by a Ukrainian missile.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, confirmed that the counter-offensive of the Ukrainian army has begun.
More than 23,000 homes in 20 settlements in the Kherson region were flooded after the collapse of the Nova Kakhovka dam, the spokesperson of the regional emergency services announced.

According to a post on that social network, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was visiting the Kherson region, which was hit by a flood wave after the Kakhovka dam was blown up yesterday, June 8.
A video of his visits to that region, from which thousands of people were evacuated, was also published.
