The United States is going through an unprecedented crisis. In Greece, even during the worst days of the crisis, no one ever stormed the Parliament. Today, Trump supporters invaded the Capitol. This was the result of the President's irresponsible, extreme and violent populism. And the complicity of the Republican establishment that let things reach this point.

US Congress formally certifies Joe Biden's election win

U.S. lawmakers on Jan. 7 formally certified Joe Biden as the winner of the presidential election - clearing the way for his inauguration on January 20.    

Republican Vice President Mike Pence certified the Electoral College count of 306 electors in favor of the Democrat against 232 in favor of outgoing Republican President Donald Trump.

Washington police expelled the leader of the "Proud Boys" group from the city and arrested two people, who supported President Donald Trump's attempts to challenge the election results according to which Joe Biden won.

US President Donald Trump has been recorded telling Georgia's top election official to "find" enough votes to overturn the election result.

 "I just want to find 11,780 votes," Mr Trump told Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger in a recording released by the Washington Post.

 Mr Raffensperger is heard replying that Georgia's results are correct.

President Donald Trump pressured Georgia's Republican secretary of state to "find" enough votes to overturn Joe Biden's win in the state's presidential election, repeatedly citing disproven claims of fraud and raising the prospect of "criminal offense" if officials did not change the vote count, according to a recording of the conversation.

Homes of the US Congress Leaders Vandalised

Vandals in the US have attacked the homes of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell.

Fake blood and a severed pig's head were reportedly left outside Democrat Ms Pelosi's California house, which was also daubed with graffiti.

The words "where's my money" and some expletives were scrawled on Republican Mr McConnell's house in Kentucky.

US Senator Cruz leads long-shot Republican bid to overturn Biden's victory

U.S. Senator Ted Cruz on Jan. 2 said he will spearhead a drive by nearly a dozen Republican senators to challenge President-elect Joe Biden's victory when Electoral College results are tallied in Congress on Jan. 6 - a largely symbolic move that has virtually no chance of preventing Biden from taking office.
