Millions hit the road as Türkiye is celebrating the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha, which marks the end of the annual Hajj pilgrimage and the second most important religious festivity after Eid al-Fitr, causing traffic jams in many cities.

Deaths in road accidents during Eid down 61 pct, says minister
Deaths due to road accidents during the Eid al-Fitr holiday declined by 61 percent this year, Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu has said.
Even though the Eid holiday has already ended, and many people returned to their home towns, police units will remain on duty to conduct traffic inspections until the end of the week, the minister wrote on Twitter.
Kuşadası welcomes over 7,000 cruise passengers
In the first two days of the Eid al-Fitr holiday, six cruise ships brought more than 4,700 visitors to the Kuşadası district of the western province of Aydın on the Aegean coast.
Another 3,000 travelers also arrived in the famous resort town on the last day of the Eid holiday.

Turkey’s first pet cemetery filled with cat, dog graves
The capacity of the country's first pet cemetery, which was opened in the northwestern province of Bursa's Osmangazi district in 2017 by the municipality, has reached some 1,200 graves.
According to local officials, there is no more space in the cemetery, which is located inside Europe's biggest treatment center for stray animals.
Mufti Porić says epidemic revealed all weaknesses of society
Ljubljana – Nevzet Porić, mufti of the Islamic community in Slovenia, stressed in his address marking Eid al-Fitr on Monday morning that the Covid-19 epidemic had brought all the weaknesses of the society to the surface in the last couple of years. He warned that the Islamic community in Slovenia had received no Covid aid form the state.
Bulgarian President congratulated the Muslim community in Bulgaria on Eid Mubarak
The Bulgarian head of state Rumen Radev congratulates the representatives of the Muslim faith in the country on the occasion of the holiday of Eid Mubarak (Kurban Bayramı). This was announced by the press office of the head of state.
"I sincerely wish your homes and loved ones to be blessed with health, well-being and prosperity," the president said in his address.
Turkey welcomes start of Eid-al Fitr holiday
Turkey has welcomed the beginning of the Eid-al Fitr holiday, also known as the "Ramadan holiday," which begins on May 2 as the holy month of Ramadan has come to an end.
The three-day Eid holiday boosted domestic tourism, with millions hitting the roads days after the indoor mask mandate in the country was partly lifted after two years of strict coronavirus measures.

Retail sector sees Eid shopping boom
A combination of Eid al-Fitr and Mother's Day has led to an increase in retail sales, according to sector representatives.
The demand for Mother's Day shopping, to be marked on May 9, has come at a time when people already have started shopping for Eid, which will take place on May 2-4 at the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
