Red tape

Ljubljana – A government task force charged with cutting red tape has drawn up an omnibus bill that would amend over a dozen laws in an effort to simplify bureaucratic procedures, according to two media outlets which have seen the bill.

Over the last few days the Central Archaeological Council and the Central Council of Modern Monuments convened separately to discuss the problems and obligations arising from the huge but long stagnant development project at the old airport at Elliniko.

A law aiming to cut red tape and boost investments in Turkey has gone into effect after being published in the Official Gazette on March 10.

Despite the endless promises for change, the magnitude of the harm done to the country by the burdensome bureaucracy that prevails in every part of the state’s functioning does not seem to have registered.

The day-to-day life of ordinary people is proof enough of how bad the situation is.
