Lajovic suffers early exit in Chennai

CHENNAI - Serbia's Dusan Lajovic has suffered an early exit at the ATP tennis tournament in Chennai after losing 7-6 (7-2), 4-6, 7-6 (7-3) to Brazilian Rogerio Dutra Silva in the opening round Tuesday.

Silva, who won after two and a half hours of play, will next face Spaniard Roberto Bautista-Agut.

The prize money in Chennai is 447,480 dollars.

Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov To Play at Sofia ATP Tour Event

Bulgaria's tennis player Grigor Dimitrov (ranked 18th in the ATP world rankings) has announced that he will participate in the tennis tournament in Sofia with prize money to the amount of EUR 520,070.

The tournament will be held in Sofia in February 5-12 at Arena Armeets.

This is the second edition of the tournament under the aegis of ATP.

Djokovic overcomes Mischa Zverev

SHANGHAI - Serbia's Novak Djokovic, the current world number one in men's tennis, is through to the semi-finals of the Shanghai Masters tournament after beating world number 110 Mischa Zverev 3-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 on Friday.

Djokovic struggled but won after 143 minutes of play, and is now 2-0 head-to-head against the elder Zverev.

Troicki knocked out of Shanghai Masters

SHANGHAI - Serbia's Viktor Troicki has been knocked out of the Shanghai Masters tennis tournament after losing 6-3, 6-3 to Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut in the third round on Thursday.

Bautista Agut won after just 75 minutes of play and is now 3-0 head-to-head against Troicki, who had defeated Rafael Nadal in the previous round.

Troicki beats Nadal in Shanghai

SHANGHAI - Serbia's Viktor Troicki is through to the third round of the Shanghai Masters tennis tournament after beating Spaniard Rafael Nadal 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) on Wedneday.

Troicki, who had lost all five of his past encounters with Nadal, won after 94 minutes of play and will next face the winner of the tie between American Taylor Fritz and Spaniard Roberto Bautista-Agut.

Bulgaria's Dimitrov Climbs Up Global Ranking after Beijing Final

Despite the loss to Andy Murray on Sunday, Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria has moved two spots up the ranking of professional tennis.

With 1990 points, he is now No 16, behind Richard Gasquet (France) and above Roberto Bautista Agut (Spain).

Dimitrov was defeated in a tense China Open final, but had managed to oust top players such as Nadal earlier during the week.

Djokovic won after just over an hour of play, chalking up his fourth victory out of as many matches against Agut.
