Russian irredentism

On their feet and with applause, MEPs welcomed the speech of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky at an extraordinary sitting of the European Parliament today.

The session started around 12.25, and its beginning was followed by great applause addressed to the Ambassador of Ukraine to the EU, as well as to the citizens of Ukraine who were invited to the extraordinary session of the European Parliament. The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, will also address the audience.

The Ukrainian embassy on Monday issued an appeal on its Facebook page for foreign citizens to help in Kyiv's fight against invading Russian forces, although the post was deleted after being republished by some media outlets.

"The curfew has just ended, a little snow has fallen, several vehicles have been seen on the street since this morning," he said.
The biggest problem at the moment is truck drivers who are at the border crossings with Romania and Hungary. Ukrainians do not allow goods of Russian or Belarusian origin to leave Ukraine.

Ljubljana – Slovenia has sent rifles, ammunition and helmets to Ukraine, Defence Minister Matej Tonin revealed on Monday. He would not talk about quantities beyond saying that the aid has already been dispatched aboard “several aircraft”.

“It would not be wise to disclose all of these figures,” he told reporters after a meeting with his EU counterparts.
