The rise in cases across the country in recent days, combined with the growing number of hospital admissions due to the Delta mutation, has alarmed government and scientists.

Greek health authorities will carry out antibody tests on 16 islands next week, the head of the National Public Health Organization (EODY) Panagiotis Arkoumaneas, told radio station Praktoreio FM on Tuesday.

Sifnos appears divided over plans to expand the port of the Aegean island to accommodate increased tourism arrivals during the summer period as locals seek to strike a balance between sustainability and development.
