Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government's (KRG) President Masoud Barzani has once again said the referendum on independence scheduled to be held on Sept. 25 will not be delayed if no better alternative emerges, as the Turkish, Iraqi and regional authorities, as well as the United States and Britain, vocally oppose the vote. 

Ankara has offered condolences to Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) President Masoud Barzani over the killing of Peshmerga troops in a Turkish airstrike on April 26, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.

The outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which has intensified its terror attacks in Turkey, and the Syrian Kurdish People's Protection Units (PYD) are exactly the same, according to Masoud Barzani, the head of autonomous Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in northern Iraq. 

Kurdish peshmerga forces need a short-term emergency fund of $300 million a month from the U.S. to fight the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), a Kurdish Iraqi official said on Feb. 8.      

Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in northern Iraq leader Masoud Barzani said he discussed the suspended talks between the Turkish government and the Kurdish problem-focused People's Democratic Party (HDP) during his two-day trip to Ankara, expressing his hope for the resumption of the Kurdish peace process. 

The president of Iraq's Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has said during a visit to Peshmerga forces operating in Arbil and Mosul that the autonomous region is insistent about its independence, while also calling for unity against a recent call for dual management in the Kurdish region.
