Traditional soaps in demand for their indefinite shelf life, with a recipe as old as 150 years and made with natural methods, have been making their way from the heart of the southeastern province of Gaziantep's Nizip district to 25 countries across the globe.
Soapmaker Papoutsanis eyes gains from the virus
Papoutsanis, the company which set up modern Greece's first industrial-scale soap producing plant in 1870, expects its losses this year from the shuttering of hotels to be offset by soaring supermarket sales. The increase in demand as people wash their hands more frequently - due to the coronavirus outbreak - has seen its factory increase output in recent days.

A 19th century olive oil and soap factory in the northwestern Turkish resort town of Ayvalık will be restored and converted into a wellness center by the local municipality.
The Kırlangıç Olive Oil and Soap factory, a property of the municipality stopped production in 2001.

Traveling the world on soap bubbles
A Polish soap bubble artist performs on Dionysiou Areopagitou Street in the historic center of Athens. Piotr Ostrowski, 31, gave up his job at a recording studio in Poland six months ago to travel the world, funding his journey along the way by putting on soap bubble spectacles in public spaces using two selfie sticks and what he calls his 'magic' soap mixture.
