Bulgaria Celebrates the 140th Anniversary of the Liberation from Ottoman Rule

Bulgaria celebrates the national holiday - 140 years since the liberation from Ottoman Rule. On March 3 (February 19th in old style), in 1878, the San Stefano Peace Treaty between Russia and the Ottoman Empire was signed, which provides for the rebuilding of Bulgaria. Independence was proclaimed thirty years later - on September 22 (October 5 in a new style) 1908.

Until 26 January, the students  in the Stara Zagora region and the Bobov Dol district are in flu holiday, and due to a high incidence of influenza, it was instructed not to hold classes for the same period and two schools in Dupnitsa.

Bulgaria Reports Record Low Unemployment for 2017

Unemployment in Bulgaria marked a record low, while at the same time economists report high employment for 2017.

Every second Bulgarian in working age worked in 2017. More than 3 million and 225 thousand people were employed in the third quarter of the year.

Economists say the reason is the growth of the economy by nearly 4%.

Key Meeting for Bedechka Park will Take Place in Stara Zagora

A key meeting of the municipal council in Stara Zagora about the fate of Bedechka Park will be held today. The council will discuss a change to the City's Master Plan in the area, reports Sega.

Valentin Donchevski is the second Bulgarian artist to receive distinction from the Art Senz Lethrenz Association of the French Academic Community.

A unique spectacle of sound and light will be the culmination of the celebrations of the 140th anniversary of the fightings for Stara Zagora, reported bTV.

In 1877 four Bulgarian volunteers and Russian soldiers defended Stara Zagora and the Samaritan flag against the four-fold part of the Central Turkish Army.
