Greece's Grid Telecom and Tamares Telecom have agreed to build an undersea fiber-optic telecoms cable to connect Cyprus and Israel to Greece, the two companies said on Thursday.
The project has been dubbed Andromeda.

Greek electricity grid operator ADMIE on Friday launched two tenders to build two undersea cables linking the island of Crete to the mainland, the energy ministry said.
The 915 million euro ($1 billion) project will be completed by 2022, the ministry said.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has said it is funding Turkey's investment in a new high-tech fiber-optic submarine communications cable system that will carry data between 17 countries, from Singapore to France and Italy, in written statement on Sept. 21.
Work Starts on Montenegro-Italy Undersea Cable
The Italian transmission system operator Terna confirmed that construction of the undersea cable is due to start in Italy on Thursday, although delays on the other side of the Adriatic Sea remain because of ongoing "expropriation processes".
