Sustainable tourism

Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelkova stated that one of the main aims of the tourism ministry is to turn Bulgaria into a year-round tourist destination.

Angelkova said this in an interview for the Bulgarian National Television (BNT) on Wednesday.

The Albanian government is eyeing the tourist market in Russia at a time when Russian holidaymakers are becoming wary of such traditional destinations as Turkey and Greece.

The idea is to exploit the problems facing Turkey and Greece, when both are struggling with refugee crises, and when terrorism is also making itself felt in Turkey.

Bulgaria's Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelkova will open a meeting of the Danubian countries devoted to sustainable tourism through cooperation and efficient use of EU funds and investments.

Five Greek wonders of nature are among the world's top 100 sustainable destinations, a list that was created by TravelMole.com, Vision on Sustainable Tourism, Totem Tourism and Green Destinations with Dr. Randy Durband, CEO of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council, as a Special Advisor.

BELGRADE - Serbia has become the first country in eastern Europe to join the international environmental project titled “EcoDots- Europe Green Travel”, the project's coordinators have announced.

Bulgaria will welcome some 9 million foreign tourists annually by 2020, and their number is expected to reach 12 million in the following 10 years.
