The skeleton of a high-rise building overlooking Baghdad's central Tahrir Square known as the Turkish Restaurant has become a temporary home and a bustling center for protesters staging demonstrations against Iraq's ruling elites.

Tens of thousands of Iraqis massed in Baghdad's Tahrir Square on Nov. 1 in the biggest demonstrations since anti-government protests erupted a month ago, defying security forces that have killed scores of people and harshly criticizing Iran's involvement in the country's affairs.

Thousands of supporters of the Islamist Hizb ut-Tahrir organization gathered in Ankara to discuss the re-establishment of the caliphate, just three days after holding an international conference in Istanbul to mark the 92nd year of the institution's abolition, daily Cumhuriyet has reported. 

Turkish director Yekta Kara has staged an opera about one of the Arab Spring's iconic places, Tahrir Square. The opera recently made its premiere at the Salzburg State Opera in Austria and won recognition from the audience.
