European Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour Mobility Marianne Thyssen proposed on Thursday that Romania's funding through the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) be increased by 17pct. We propose to increase the funding allocated to Romania through the ESF+ by 17pct.

Bulgarian political scientist Ivan Krastev will deliver two lectures in Greece on the subject "The EU as a Community of European Law and Values" on November 26 and 27, organized by the Fritz Thyssen Foundation.

''This is a matter of both social fairness and economic necessity: economic growth goes hand in hand with social progress'', she added.

The city of Dortmund, of which some believed it would remain history after 1998, once with the shutting of the PHOENIX West steel works, part of Thyssen Krupp, the backbone of the local industry, has revived after implementing one of the amplest urban development programmes in Germany.
