Erdoğan holds talks with MHP leader in Ankara

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Thursday met with Nationalist Movement Party leader Devlet Bahçeli in the capital Ankara ahead of a pivotal high-security meeting.

The encounter, lasting approximately 45 minutes, took place at Bahçeli's residence in Beytepe, according to a statement by the Presidency's Communication Directorate.

MHP leader slams CHP for calling early polls

Devlet Bahçeli, the leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) has criticized the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) for asking early elections in late 2025.

"[CHP Chairman] Özgür Özel's call for early polls is an eclipse of reason and a delusion," Bahçeli said at a press conference he held on Sept. 19 in the Turkish capital.

Erdoğan reiterates call for 'civilian' constitution

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has renewed his administration's push for a new constitution, emphasizing that the new document should be a "civilian text."

"We believe that it is high time for Türkiye to get rid of the current constitution, which is a product of a coup," Erdoğan said during an event in the capital Ankara on Sept. 2.

MHP leader urges ‘calm line’ along Iraq border following PKK attacks

Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli has called for the establishment of a "calm line" extending up to 60 kilometers along Türkiye's border with Iraq in the wake of the recent PKK attacks in the region that claimed the lives of 12 Turkish troops.
