Eurostat: More than Half of the Unemployed in Bulgaria were at Risk of Poverty
Nearly 55 percent of the unemployed in Bulgaria were at risk of poverty after social transfers in 2016, according to Eurostat data from a survey of unemployed persons between the ages of 15-64 in the EU.
Greek unemployment at 21.7 pct in April
The Eurostat statistics agency said unemployment in Greece fell slightly to 21.7 percent in April compared to 22 percent in May.
With 1.041 million unemployed, Greece had the highest jobless rate in the European Union, according to Eurostat.

Greece remains No.1 in unemploymemnt rate, says Eurostat
According to Eurostat, Greece remains the champion in unemployment rates among EU member states, with 23%. The data published by the European statistical services revealed that while the unemployment average was below 10% in the rest of the common currency union and stood at levels below 2009, Greece’s jobless rate was two and a half more.
Stats Show Fewer Workers - and Fewer Jobless - in Croatia
Although recent statistics show Croatia had the biggest annual drop in the unemployment rate in the EU last year, figures also show the number of people in work in Croatia has also declined.
A report published on Tuesday by the EU statistical agency Eurostat said Croatia's unemployment rate fell from 15 per cent in December 2015 to 11.4 per cent in December 2016.
Almost a million Greeks unemployed
The total number of people registered with the Manpower Organization (OAED) as unemployed came to 973,586, according to OAED data released on Monday.
From the people who are looking for a job, 63,57% are women and 53,15% are registered with OAED for more than 12 months.

Bulgaria Had Second Largest Drop in Unemployment in EU in March
According to the latest figures of Eurostat released on Friday, Bulgaria registered the second largest decrease in its unemployment rate in March 2016 preceded only by Cyprus.
Compared to the same month in 2015, the unemployment rate in Bulgaria in March decreased from 10 % to 7.3 %. Compared to the previous month, the unemployment rated dropped by 0.1 %.
Turkey's 2015 unemployment rate hits double digits
The unemployment rate in Turkey rose 0.4 percentage points in 2015 to sit at 10.3 percent, hitting double digits for the first time since 2010, the Turkish Statistics Institute (TÜ?K) said in a statement on March 23.
The number of unemployed persons rose to 3.057 million in 2015, an increase of 204,000 from the previous year, the statement said.

Deputy PM says reforms needed for unemployment to drop from double-digit rates
Turkey's labor market needs reforms to become more flexible and bring the unemployment rate below 10 percent, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet ?im?ek said on Feb. 15.
Speaking after the Turkish Statistics Institute (TÜ?K) released the unemployment rate for the October-December 2015 period, ?im?ek said he did not see a "bad trend" in unemployment.
Eurostat: Bulgaria's Unemployment Rate Was Below EU Average in December 2015
The latest figures of Eurostat released on Tuesday show that Bulgaria's unemployment rate was below the EU average in the last month of 2015.
In December last year, Bulgaria registered an unemployment rate of 8.8 %, with the EU average being 9 %.
Bulgaria's unemployment rate retained its level from November 2015, decreasing by 1.4 % compared to the same month in 2014.
