President Donald Trump on May 11 ran into resistance for calling ousted FBI chief James Comey a "showboat," an attack that was swiftly contradicted by top U.S. senators and the acting FBI leader, who pledged that an investigation into possible Trump campaign ties to Russia would proceed with vigor.

In her first interview since her stunning presidential election defeat by Republican rival Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton on Thursday called for the United States to bomb Syrian air fields.

Clinton, in an interview at the Women in the World Summit in New York, also called Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election a theft more damaging than Watergate.

The Republic Electoral Commission (RIK) announced on Monday morning that the Progressives (SNS) had won 48.25 percent of the votes cast on Sunday.

The commission said these results were based on "more than 97 percent" of counted ballots.
