Legal expert Ljubo Bavcon dies

Ljubljana – Ljubo Bavcon, professor emeritus of penal law at the Ljubljana Faculty of Law, died aged 97, the newspaper Delo reported online. Bavcon is considered one of the most prominent legal experts of the second half of the 20th century, according to Delo.

Another academic year marked by Covid-19 begins

Ljubljana – Gregor Majdič, a researcher and professor at the Ljubljana Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and the Maribor Faculty of Medicine, has been elected new chancellor of the University of Ljubljana, defeating the incumbent Igor Papič, in a run-off.

Days of Jožef Stefan kick off online

Ljubljana – Days of Jožef Stefan will kicked off online yesterday with Jožef Stefan Institute (IJS) head Boštjan Zalar addressing the opening ceremony. Top science accolades go to researcher and professor emeritus

Ljubljana – This year’s Zois Prizes for lifetime achievement in science and research have been bestowed on researcher Tamara Lah Turnšek of the National Institute of Biology and University of Ljubljana professor emeritus Radovan Stanislav Pejovnik. East Asian Resource Library for knowledge without borders

The idea of EARL stems from collaboration between two members of the University of Ljubljana: the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Arts, particularly its Department of Asian Studies. The project has been in the works for at least two years now, since the signing of an agreement by the two collaborators.
