International buyers boost home rates in Thessaloniki
The housing market in Thessaloniki is picking up as residential property prices rose by 7.6 percent last year, outperforming the national average of 7.4 percent, according to data from the Bank of Greece.

Continuing its Sacred Music cycle in the runup to Easter, the Greek National Opera presents "Miracles from the Bible," a program comprising Benjamin Britten's "Canticle II: Abraham and Isaac," Arvo Part's "Sarah Was Ninety Years Old" and Michalis Adamis' "Yini Perivevlimeni ton Ilion I" (A Woman Clothed with the Sun).

Cyprus to fund new hospital in burned east Attica
Cyprus' cabinet decided on Wednesday to fund the building of a new hospital in east Attica, the area devastated by deadly wildfires last July.
The move comes after Cyprus donated 10 million euros to Greece to help the country cope with the aftermath of the disaster and assist the victims of the fire, the country's deputy government spokesperson, Klelia Vasiliou, told journalists.

Frozen Lake Plastiras from above (video)
Located in the region of Karditsa in Thessaly, Lake Plastira is an artificial lake. The water mass is fed by Tavropos River. The lake, which holds 400 million cubic metres of fresh water, was allegedly conceived by General Nikos Plastiras in 1952. It is mainly used for water irrigation and as a power source. After the recent cold spell of weather the water turned into a frozen lake.
