The U.S. House of Representatives approved the Pentagon budget bill on Dec. 8 by an overwhelming majority, defying President Donald Trump's threat to veto the measure.

The bill must now go to the Senate, where it is likely also to be approved, before it reaches the outgoing Republican leader.

President Rumen Radev called on MPs to donate their March salaries for the fight against the coronavirus, and provoked the reaction of government representatives with his comments in connection with the measures during the state of emergency.

The head of state warned that the measures to protect the country from socio-economic catastrophe are not taken at the appropriate time.

The implementation bill sets the main source of funds for municipalities - the per-capita sum - at EUR 589 for 2020 and EUR 588 for 2021, whereas the councillors believe the sums should by some EUR 70 higher, at EUR 659 and EUR 668.

Bulgaria's Parliament on September 5 overturned the President's veto on changes to the Military Intelligence Act that allow a civilian to head the Military Information Service as an alternative to the requirement to be a military member, reports BNT. 

134 MPs voted against the presidential veto, 57 supported it, and 6 abstained.

The National Assembly rejected the presidential veto on the F-16 fighter contract.

After two hours of debate, with 128 votes, Parliament rejected the President's objections to the ratification of the treaty.

The Defence Committee will hold an extraordinary session, according to its work schedule. The MPs will consider the presidential veto on the ratification of the international contracts for the purchase of F-16 block 70.

According to BNR, the Bulgarian National Assembly is expected to include in its agenda President Radev's veto on amendments to the 2019 Budget Law which allows the financing of political parties by donations from legal entities and sole proprietors.

The Parliament has adopted for the second time the Black Sea Coast Planning Act, Focus News Agency reports. The bill was supported by 143 MPs, 66 voted against and 1 MP abstained.

The Committee on Regional Policy, Urban Development and Local Self-Government rejected the President's veto on the latest amendments to the Law on the Structure of the Black Sea Coast.
