Fifteen lawmakers who resigned from the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) to join the İYİ (Good) Party and ensure the latter's participation in snap elections have returned to the CHP after the İYİ Party's participation was secured.

Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) presidential candidate Muharrem İnce met with İYİ (Good) Party leader Meral Akşener as part of his bid to visit all presidential candidates ahead of campaigning for the snap June 24 election.

Revealing her party's economic program ahead of the June 24 snap elections, İYİ (Good) Party leader Meral Akşener has vowed to restructure the debts of 4.5 million Turkish citizens, worth 8 billion liras, through a project called the "Turkey Solidarity Fund."

Eight were injured after supporters of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) attacked an election campaign booth of the opposition İYİ (Good) Party in Istanbul's Bağcılar district on May 6.

MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli said he would refrain from speaking against Meral Akşener "because she is a woman," while voicing his anger against the former Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) member and the recent founder of the İYİ (Good) Party in a series of tweets on May 5.

Good (İYİ) Party leader Akşener' href='/search/Meral Akşener'>Meral Akşener and Felicity Party (SP) chair Karamollaoğlu' href='/search/Temel Karamollaoğlu'>Temel Karamollaoğlu have submitted their applications to the Supreme Election Board (YSK) on May 2 to run for the upcoming presidential elections on June 24 and need to gather 100,000 signatures to back their candidacy. 

İYİ (Good) Party leader Meral Akşener has reportedly reiterated that she will stand as a presidential candidate from her party, dismissing rumors that the opposition bloc was considering presenting former President Abdullah Gül as their joint candidate. 

Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) Deputy Group Chair Özgür Özel has refuted rumors suggesting that the İYİ (Good) Party and the CHP will present Meral Akşener as a joint presidential candidate, saying the CHP will present its own candidate in the June 24 snap election.

The Turkish Parliament has approved a joint proposal of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) to hold snap elections on June 24, 2018, a year-and-a-half before the originally scheduled date.
