Top destination for yachts

Based on confirmed bookings for the whole of 2023 (data up to April 30), Greece remains the No 1 yacht charter destination worldwide, with a market share of 27% of all weekly bookings of yachts over 20 meters long, according to the International Yacht Company (IYC), which has an expanded network of 14 offices in nine countries and is one of the largest yacht brokerage companies worldwide.

Couple goes for 5-year round-the-world tour

A couple has set sail for a five-year round-the-world tour on their yacht with a special ceremony in the southern province of Antalya.

"This was my childhood dream," Sezgin Tekin, a 63-year-old lawyer, told İhlas News Agency on June 16, just before the departure.

His wife, Betül Tekin, a 59-year-old retired teacher, will accompany him on this journey.

Yachts race for parking spot in tourism hotspot Bodrum

People in droves have thronged to the famous resort town of Bodrum in the southwestern province of Muğla on the Aegean coast during the long Eid al-Adha holiday, causing traffic jams on the roads.

With yacht owners racing for a good spot to anchor their vessels in surrounding bays during their stay, the town's shoreline has become overcrowded as well.

Health protocols for yachting seen as unrealistic

The health protocols published for yachting are impossible to implement, unrealistic and in some cases funny, say sources from the Greek maritime tourism industry.
"They are obviously drafted by people who have never been on a yacht and do not understand or are not interested in what sailing means," a source told Kathimerini.

Blue cruise may resume late June

Cruising season in Kuşadası, one of the major tourist destinations in Turkey's Aegean region, is set to begin after a break due to the coronavirus pandemic.
All precautions have been taken and all boats and yachts have been disinfected, said boat captains.
This year's cruise season was scheduled to start March 1 but was postponed for three months because of the outbreak.
