Danish Parliament Rejects Bill to Recognize the Palestinian State

The Danish parliament has turned down a bill to recognize the Palestinian state, according to Reuters. Today, Ireland, Spain, and Norway have officially recognized the Palestinian state after announcing their intentions last week. In response, Israel labeled their actions as a "reward to terrorism" and recalled its ambassadors.

Spain, Ireland and Norway recognize Palestinian state

Spain, Ireland and Norway are formally recognizing a Palestinian state on Tuesday in a decision slammed by Israel as a "reward" for Hamas more than seven months into the devastating Gaza war.

The three European countries believe their initiative has strong symbolic impact, which is likely to encourage others to follow suit.

Israeli ambassador to Greece labels Kasselakis’ visit to West Bank as ‘lost opportunity’

The Israeli ambassador to Greece, Noam Katz, on Monday criticized the main opposition SYRIZA leader Stefanos Kasselakis' visit to the West Bank. 

According to Katz, the visit was a "lost opportunity" for Kasselakis to make a difference. Katz added that if Kasselakis wanted to positively contribute, he should have spoken to both sides. 

Kasselakis meets with Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem

Greece's main opposition leader, Stefanos Kasselakis, on Monday met with Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos III during his visit to the Palestinian territories.

According to a statement released by SYRIZA, Theophilos III briefed Kasselakis on the activities of the Patriarchate and issues concerning the Greek Orthodox community in its areas of ministry. 

EU's Borrell urges enforcement of UN court order on Israel offensive

EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said on Monday a U.N. court ruling telling Israel to stop its offensive in Gaza's Rafah must be implemented, as European ministers met Arab counterparts in Brussels.

Israel has continued to strike Rafah as its government has dismissed Friday's ruling from the International Court of Justice.

SYRIZA leader Kasselakis set to visit West Bank

Main SYRIZA opposition leader Stefanos Kasselakis is set to visit the West Bank on May 26 - 27, reports say. 

Kasselakis will reportedly visit the city of Ramallah for meetings with officials of the Palestinian Authority.
