Talks on Belgrade-Maribor cooperation

BELGRADE/MARIBOR - Belgrade City Manager Goran Vesic and Mayor of Maribor Andrej Fistravec agreed to establish cooperation between tourism organizations and exchange information in the field of public utility.

On Monday evening, Vesic and Fistravec also discussed cooperation in the area of culture and sport, and also agreed that Belgrade and Slovenian Maribor should jointly apply for donor funds before the bodies of the EU and other international organizations and funds.

Vesic thanked his host for good cooperation with the Serb community of around 6,000 citizens, adding that the Slovenian city has always had strong ties with Serbia, built in difficult moments of common history.

"We are particularly grateful because the city corrected the injustice of the Second World War, when the Nazis destroyed a Serbian Orthodox Church, which was never rebuilt, because you made it possible for construction of a new church to begin," Vesic underlined.
