Serbian citizen evacuated from Yemen

BELGRADE -- Serbian citizen Muhedin Gegic who was stranded in war-torn Yemen, and his family has been evacuated and are expected to arrive in Serbia.

"After weeks of efforts, with the help of the Serbian embassy in the United Arab Emirates and in the Russian Federation, we have finalized the process of evacuating Serbian national Muhedin Gegic and members of his family from Yemen," a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia said on Thursday.

Gegic and his family flew to Moscow on Wednesday on a Russian government airplane, and are currently at the Serbian embassy in Moscow.

"With this, all citizens of Serbia who until this point turned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for consular assistance and protection have been evacuated," the statement added.
