Filipovic, Bogdanovic claim OCS best athlete awards

BELGRADE - The Olympic Committee of Serbia (OCS) on Thursday named male water polo player Filip Filipovic and female taekwondist Tijana Bogdanovic the best Serbian athletes for 2016.

With the national team, Filipovic won the European Championship, the World League and the long-awaited Olympic gold, as well as the Champions League with his club, Italy's Pro Recco.

Bogdanovic won an Olympic silver and became a European champion.

Olympic men's wrestling champion Davor Stefanek received the newly-established Best Individual Sport Athlete award.

The women's national volleyball team, which won the silver at the Rio Olympics, was named Best Women's Team, with the men's water polo team claiming the Best Men's Team award.
