Dacic: I hope Serbia will join EU before it falls apart

Asked to comment on EU's enlargement policy, Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said that enlargement was good not only for Serbia, but also for the EU.

"In conditions of separation, Brexit, and EU's various other problems - starting with the migrant crisis all the way to terrorism - the entry of our region into the EU is a contribution to consolidating that very idea. Not to mention that it's a factor of calming the tensions in the region," he told reporters in Bled, Slovenia.

"We remain committed to our goal - and that is full-fledged membership in the EU - and the only thing is that we think there should be a transparent perspective. That perspective can have a happy or a sad ending, but I hope it will be happy, that is, that we will join the EU before it falls apart," Dacic concluded.
