Serbia down Italy at water polo world cup after penalty shootout

FUKUOKA - The Serbia men's national water polo team is through to the semi-finals of the 2023 FINA Water Polo World Cup after defeating Italy 15-14 (3-3, 2-2, 4-4, 2-2, 4-3) in the quarter-finals in Fukuoka on Tuesday.

The match was decided by a penalty shootout, in which Marko Radulovic was the only Serbia player to miss his shot, while Edoardo di Somma and Luca Damonte missed for Italy.

Strahinja Rasovic led the scoring for Serbia in the game with three goals and Nikola Jaksic and Radomir Drasovic each added two.

Francesco Di Fulvio scored three goals for Italy and Giacomo Cannella, Lorenzo Bruni and di Somma each scored a brace.

Serbia will face Greece in the semi-finals.
