Bosnia’s Serb-dominated entity of Republika Srpska is staging a lavish celebration of its disputed ‘statehood’ holiday, defying a ban by the Constitutional Court.

BELGRADE - Serbia must preserve the integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina as much as it loves and preserves the integrity of Republika Srpska (RS) because preserving peace and stability is crucial for us, and we do not need problems, Serbian PM Aleksandar Vucic said Thursday.

BELGRADE - Regional stability and good relations with neighbours are Serbia's biggest interests, Serbian PM Aleksandar Vucic said at a meeting with Republika Srpska (RS) President Milorad Dodik Thursday, reiterating that Serbia respected the territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), but that the integrity of the RS must be respected as well.

BELGRADE - Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic and Republika Srpska (RS) President Milorad Dodik on Thursday discussed ways to improve the Serbia-RS cooperation pursuant to the Dayton Agreement, and Nikolic accepted Dodik's invitation to attend the January 9 RS Day celebrations in Banja Luka.

BELGRADE - Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic received the Chairman of the Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Presidency Mladen Ivanic on Wednesday, expressing commitment to preserving regional peace and stability and noting that the Serbia-BiH ties were good.

Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik on Monday said the United States had refused to issue him a diplomatic visa to attend the January 20 inauguration of President Donald Trump.

Dodik said he was told that he would not be travelling to the US as representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Unions have announced protests in Banja Luka for Thursday, when the Republika Srpska assembly is due to discuss the 2017 budget for the Serb-run entity.

As an introduction to Thursday's protests, unions representing the judiciary on Wednesday organized a one-hour strike between 11am and midday. 

BANJALUKA - The results of the Republika Srpska Day referendum cannot be annulled, Chairman of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Presidency Mladen Ivanic said in Banjaluka Friday.

Only the consequences of the referendum can be annulled, Ivanic, the Serb member of the tripartite rotating presidency, told the Avaz.ba news portal.
