Spring Book Bazaar Opens at National Palace of Culture
On the eve of the Day of Bulgarian Education and Culture, the biggest spring book fair in Bulgaria opens at the National Palace of Culture in Sofia: the Spring Book Bazaar.
It will be held until May 28, on the third floor of the National Palace of Culture in downtown Sofia.
There is a special place to sit down and read a book.

Checks into Quality of Imported Foodstuffs to Begin
By end-June, an analysis will be made of the ingredients in some foodstuffs which are on sale in Bulgaria, Austria and Germany, Dr. Kamen Nikolov from the Food Safety Agency told the Bulgarian National Radio, cited by the Bulgarian National Radio.
Subjects to checks will be chocolate, sodas, meat and dairy products and baby food.
NSI: Museum Visits in 2016 Have Increased by 9.8%
Visits to museums in Bulgaria totalled to 5,230,000 in 2016, going up by 9.8% compared to 2015. Approximately one fourth of them (1,223,000) were during days of free entry. An increased number of visits of foreigners has been registered - by 271,000, or by 36.8% compared to the previous year. This was announced by the National Statistical Institute (NSI) and cited by FOCUS news agency.

Weak Earthquake Registered Nearby Devin
A 2 - magnitude earthquake is registered on the territory of Bulgaria, nearby Devin, reported BGNES.
The earthquake is felt at 10.19 am with an epicenter 6 km northeast of Devin, 32 km northwest of Smolyan and 136 km southeast of Sofia, with a depth of 15 km, the European Seismological Center said.
No information on damage from the quake has been provided yet.
Record Amount of Heroin Seized at Bulgarian-Romanian Border
The narcotic substance was found in a cargo truck with terracotta tiles delivered to a warehouse in Bulgaria from Iran, according to Standart newspaper, cited by BNR.
The tiles with a total weight of 23 tons travelled from Bulgaria to Holland.
The truck with the terracotta was stopped for a check by the team of the Customs in Lom on the Dunav.
